Joyce M. Johnson, 98, began her new life in heaven on January 31, 2013.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd, on Monday, February 4, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m.
Joyce was a Franklin County native, born December 3, 1914, to the late Arthur and Flora Miller. She began attending the First Baptist Church on St. Clair Street in 1928 and remained a faithful member there until her passing.
In 1945 she began working in the church mission outreach, teaching Sunday school and Training Union, and became President of the J.O.Y. class.
Joyce started her career as a beautician in 1950. She owned and operated Joyce’s Beauty Salon in Frankfort for 50 years.
She was the widow of the late Jake Johnson. Surviving are her daughter Anita Johnson Wells and her husband Ward Wells, Louisville, a son, Stephen M. Johnson and his wife Carla, Frankfort, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
