Fay Nola Shafer Hall Sullivan, 80, of Madison, Indiana, died 4:39 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013, at Kindred Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born October 1, 1932, in Carroll County, Kentucky, to Charles & Nancy Ella Harmon Shafer.
She is survived by her significant other: John Cole of Madison, Indiana; 5 daughters: Debbie Simon and her husband, Mark, of Brookville, Florida, Linda Robinson and her husband, David, of Frankfort, Kentucky, Vickie Burgess and her husband, Junie, of Ghent, Kentucky, Sandy Bruner and her husband, Donnie, of Lagoottee, Indiana, Terri Cull and her husband, Terry, of Milton, Kentucky; 2 sons: Steve Bird of Milton, Kentucky, Jeff Bird of Madison, Indiana; 3 step daughters: Marjorie Backherms of Clarksville, Indiana, Diane Cole and her husband, Bill, of Evansville, Indiana, Debbie Miller and her husband, John, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; her step son: Scott Tullis and his wife, Lisa, of Dupont, Indiana; 2 sisters: Lola Stockdale of Milton, Kentucky, Barbara Wittenmyer of Hanover, Indiana; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & other relatives
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nancy Ella Harmon Shafer; her husbands, Jesse Edward Hall died, June 29, 1997; Billy Joe Sullivan died, Jan. 22, 2005; and Gayle Bird died in 2009; four brothers, Frank, Alan, Paul and Alvin Shafer; and five sisters, Goldie Shafer, Jaunita Bellamy, Beulah Gilbertson, Cordia Knox and Veletta Welch.
She entered this life on October 1, 1932, in Carroll County, Kentucky. Fay was the daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Ella Harmon Shafer. She was a retired employee of Conn-Organ in Madison and Jasper, Indiana. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, bird-watching, playing the piano and organ, playing Pogo games on the computer, cooking and being with her family. Fay resided most of her life in Jefferson County and was of the Christian faith.
Services will be Thursday, February 21, 2013, 5:00 p.m., Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Pastor Troy Hedges will officiate. She will be buried Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
Visitation is Thursday from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. The family requests memorials in memory of Fay to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society; contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
