Aaron Thomas Johnson, 37, of Versailles, joined his Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, and was reunited with his son, Samuel, who preceded him in death. Born December 21, 1975, in Lexington, he was the son of Paul C. Johnson III and Myrna Johnson of Lancaster, SC.
He leaves his wife, Danielle Heimlich Johnson, and daughters Allison Elizabeth, age 11, and Sarah Nicole, age 3. He is also survived by his brother, Christopher (Rose Marie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Boyle County High School, Danville, KY, and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was employed by the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet and most recently served as a Section Supervisor in the Department of Revenue. He was active in the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign where he used his experience as a parent of a special needs child to emphasize charitable giving. He was an avid student of American history and accumulated an extensive library on the Civil War. He was a life-time member of the NRA and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Aaron lived with an intensity for life’s challenges and joys and brought laughter and happiness to many through his wit and music. Those who knew him best will remember a compassionate and devoted father who imparted love of family and God to his children.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25 at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Pete Jones officiating.
Interment is in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Johnson, Paul C. Johnson III, Chris Rutledge, Wendell Grayson, Marc Bradley, Thomas Johnson, Glenn Hanley, Nathan Heimlich, and Nicholas Heimlich. Memorials gifts may be made to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, P.O.
