Billy Barnes Jr., 86, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center.
Services for Mr. Barnes will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Reverend Gary Brackett will be officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Barnes was born to the late Bill and George Anne Johnson Barnes in Powell County, Kentucky, on November 10, 1926. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a retired farmer and also a retired bus driver and custodian for the Franklin County Board of Education. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Frankfort, KY, and spent his spare time fishing.
He is survived by his best friend and companion of 41 years, Mildred Rutherford; three sons, Sonny Barnes (Judy), Larry Barnes (Susan), and Terry Barnes all of Frankfort, KY; nine grandchildren, Timothy Barnes, Panacea, FL, Harold Hall, Lawrenceburg, KY, Debra Parsons, Frankfort, KY, Timothy Hall, Frankfort, KY, Daniel Scott Barnes, Troy, AL, William Michael and Trish Barnes, Frankfort, KY, and William Paul and Kaylisha Caroline Barnes, Flemingsburg, KY; 11 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Betty Fly, Middlesboro, KY, Agnes Douthitt, Lantana, FL, Geraldine Douthitt, Frankfort, KY, and Lois Harrod of Frankfort, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, JT, Hobert, and Russell Barnes; and three sisters, Sylvia, Mary, and Lucille.
Pallbearers will be Timothy A. Barnes, Harold N. Hall, Timothy E. Hall, Daniel Scott Barnes, William Michael Barnes, and David R. Harrod C.P.A. The Honorary pallbearer and his sidekick is Makenzie Lamb.
