Hallie Watkins

Hallie Watkins, 91, passed away peacefully at her residence Sunday evening, March 10, 2013, after a brief illness.

Hallie was born to the late Noble Pryor and Mary Belle Duncan Morse on November 14, 1921, in Bagdad, Kentucky. She was married to the late Marvin Watkins for 57 years. She was a member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. Prior to her illness, she was a Sunday School teacher, an active member of the Senior Citizens Center, and a Southern States Board member. Hallie enjoyed gardening and growing her own vegetables. She retired after 30 years of service from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Finance Cabinet, Division of Engineering.

Hallie is survived by her three children, Mary Linda (Stuart) Hammond, Eddie Morse (Trudy) Watkins, and Glenn (Kathy) Watkins, all of Frankfort; her sister, Evelyn Hurn, Frankfort; and her brother, Donald Morse, Bagdad. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Burton Pulliam.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Todd Lester and Dr. Daven Watkins. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be her six grandsons, Mike Hammond, Jeff Hammond, Daven Watkins, Brandon Watkins, Chris Watkins, and Trevor Watkins. Honorary Casketbearers will be her three granddaughters, Alicia Lyles, Tara Watkins, and Tommie Watkins and her ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the church. Online condolences may be made at clarklegacycenter.com.
