LEXINGTON – Early Truman (E.T.) Murphy, passed away at age 94 on March 15, 2013 in Lexington, KY.
Services for Mr. Murphy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 312 Washington St., Frankfort, KY. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. until the service.
The son of Brack and Ada Murphy, he was born on February 21, 1919 in Scott County, KY. He and his late wife, Betsy Juett Murphy, lived in Frankfort for many years before moving to The Lafayette in Lexington, KY. He was a farmer in Franklin and Scott Counties, had worked for the Kentucky State Government, and was a member of Capital City Church.
Mr. Murphy is survived by four daughters, Pat (Imants) Rizenbergs, Somerset, KY; Barbara Roberts, Naples, FL; Kathy Murphy, Louisville, KY; and Janie (Bob) Barton, Lexington, KY, and one son, Jim (Karen) Murphy of Lexington, KY. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, David (Penny) Rizenbergs, Jamestown, KY; Susan (Allen) Pippin, Cary, NC; Matthew (Jen Smith) Barton, Lexington, KY; Amanda Dunn (Todd) Wash, Frankfort, KY; Elizabeth (Matt) Winkler, Louisville, KY; Sarah Spaulding, Frankfort, KY; and Emily (Anders) Jorgensen, Stamping Ground, KY; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is survived by sister-in-laws Marilyn Juett of Georgetown, KY and Maryann Juett of Winter Park, FL, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Demaree Murphy, granddaughter, Carolyn Buckles, and a son-in-law, Kenneth Roberts.
Pallbearers are David Rizenbergs, Allen Pippin, Matt Barton, Kris Buckles, Todd Wash, Matt Winkler, Anders Jorgensen, Chris Rizenbergs, and Nick Rizenbergs. Honorary bearers are Wayne and David Murphy.
The family of E.T. Murphy wishes to thank all his friends at The Lafayette, including Hilma Irtz, for the love and support they have given him. The family also wishes to express appreciation to his caregivers Paula Cleveland and Doris Hughes for their devotion.
