Larry Scott Perkins, age 73, resident of Lexington, KY, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Died September 15, 201,3 at UK Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, KY.
He was born August 26, 1940, in Frankfort, KY, to Mary Ann Carter Perkins and G. Scott Perkins.
He was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Eastern Kentucky University and was awarded a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky School of Law. He began his career as an Administrative Assistant to Lt. Governor Harry Lee Waterfield then served as an Administrative Assistant to Governor Louie B. Nunn. He served as State Curator and later as the Executive Director of the Board of Landscape Architects. He was then named Director of the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Engineers and Professional Surveyors.
Upon retirement he spent his time between Lexington, KY, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He served on the boards for the 132 Condominium Association, Everglades House Association and the Mary Todd Lincoln House. He was a member of the Lexington Club and Boone Faculty Club of the University of Kentucky.
Larry was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Eugene, Jack and Jimmy Perkins.
Survivors include nieces Trish P. Squires and Mary Babb Kay of Versailles, nephew John M. Perkins III and sister-in-law Barbara Perkins of Frankfort, KY.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Frankfort Cemetery on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 2 p.m.
