Services for Bishop Vaughn E. Fields, 79, Frankfort, will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor. Rev. James Smith and Pastor Will Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Vaughn died Friday at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown, IN. He was a paint contractor who owned Fields Decorating Services. He was a member of Fintville Community Church where he served as associate pastor, trustee and evangelist. In 1980, he was ordained as Elder and in 1988 made Bishop in the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ by Bishop James Best, Jr. Heavenly Highway Outreach Ministries on radio station 1490AM was started by Vaughn forty-seven years ago in October.
A native of Amburgy, Knott Co., he was the son of the late Troy, Sr. and Sallie Mullins Fields and was preceded in death by brothers Albert Willis Fields, James Elmer Fields and Wallace J. Fields; sisters, Maywood Fields LaMonda, Grace Fields, Louise Fields and Ruth Fields
Survivors include his wife, Frances Fields; sons, Larry Conway, Maryland, Mark Conway, Shelby Co.; daughter, Kathy Shepherd, Frankfort; sisters, Pauline Fields Parks (Robert), Missouri, Ruby Fields Gibson, Knott Co.; brother Troy Fields, Jr. (Beulah), Bracken Co.; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; special friend, Shirley Conway and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Harry Enoch, Bill Wise, Tim Cox, Ron Douglas, Jesse West and Pete Wise. Honorary bearers will be Rose & Denny Spaulding, Brother James Bowman, Bo & Lou Bailey, D. Mark, Martha Bailey, Charles & Helen LeCompte, Donald Arnold, Luster Allen and Zenobia Skinner
