Services for Sidney A. Turner, 91, Frankfort, will be held 11 a.m. Friday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Wade Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery.
Mr. Turner died Tuesday at Bradford Square Nursing Home. A native of Scott County, he was born on November 25, 1921, to the late Henry and Ruby Hendricks Turner.
He was a retired farmer, thoroughbred breeder and racing owner, Black Angus breeder, auctioneer and antique dealer. He was a Kentucky Colonel, pioneer farmer, Honorary Commissioner of Agriculture (1996), member of Thoroughbred owner-breeders association and Horsemens Benevolent Protective Association.
Survivors include a sister, Henrietta Logan; two brothers, Mark (Frances) Turner and Risque (Brenda) Turner, Frankfort; sister-in-law Louise Turner; long time friend Jackie Branham, all of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Traugott and Marjorie Meriweather; six brothers Marion Gilbert, William, Donald, Herbert, Russell and Ross Turner.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Turner, Gary Logan, Mike Turner, Josh Turner, Bobby Medford and Mike Spencer. Honorary bearers will be Salem Wingate, Red Sams, Carlos Pugh, Ron Tackett and the coffee drinkers of the west side McDonald’s.
Visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
