Services for Kenneth Coleman Metts, 79, will be conducted at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 11am Tuesday, November 5, 2013, with Reverend Todd Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be received Monday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Metts passed away Friday, November 1, 2013, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born at home in Stamping Ground, KY, on October 31, 1934, to the late Carlos and Opal Elizabeth Mitchell Metts, Kenneth graduated at the Stamping Ground High School before enlisting with the United States Marine Corps. He retired from IBM as a machinist and was an avid fisherman and hunter. A faithful Christian, Kenneth was a member of the East Frankfort Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon and recently attended the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. He was a Mason with the Masonic Scott Lodge #702, former Zone Governor for the Ruritan Club, former President of the Peaks Mill Ruritan Club, and former Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 128 before founding Boy Scout Troop 269 where he became Scout Master.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Jane Allen Metts; Son, Shawn Metts (Holly Campbell), Cincinnati, OH; Daughters, Victoria Jane Metts, Corydon, IN, and Dee Dee (Jim) Green, Frankfort, KY; Sisters, Betty Carol Burchfield, Stamping Ground, KY, and Ruby Tuttle, Georgetown, KY; Grandson, Nicholas Green; and Granddaughter, Andrea Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Son, Keith Allen Metts, and Brother, James Metts.
