Kenneth Harp, 82, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, following a short illness. Kenneth was a loving husband of 62 years to Rose Mary Harp and a devoted father of three children, Kenneth “Sam” Harp (Karen), Rickey Harp (Cheryl), and Kathy Harp Willis (Danny), 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A native of Frankfort, Kenneth was an active member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and a retired foreman of the Jim Beam Distilleries. His greatest joys in life were his family, watching and coaching his children throughout their sports career and playing golf (and has had several hole-in-ones). His goal was always to score below his age; however, his greatest passion was, Rose Mary, the love of his life.
The son of Sam and Mary Rose Harp, Kenneth was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Lindsey Marie Harp and Rachael Harrod, two sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Elizabeth Clark and two brothers, Woodrow and Raymond Harp.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home and services Friday at 2 p.m. with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens, the Reverend Todd Lester officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages expressions of sympathy in his memory to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church Building Fund, 495 Duckers Road, Midway, KY 40347.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared via the online guestbook at www.harrodbrothersfuneralhome.com.
