Robert D. Jackson, age 94, widower of Chrystial Schuler Jackson, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Masonic Home of Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Services for Mr. Jackson will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Baxter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Frankfort Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Friday from noon until the service at 2 p.m.
A native of Franklin County, he was born September 1, 1919, to the late Orby N. Jackson Sr. and Venice Perkins Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. During his service time, he participated in four major campaigns and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Sears after 30 years of service. Mr. Jackson was long time member and deacon of Crestwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by a nephew, Charles Jackson (Nell); niece, Pauline Pulliam (Chester); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Golden Semones; and two half-brothers, Orby N. Jackson, Jr. and William Jackson.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
