Garrett Lee “Binks” Dean, 86, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, in Okeechobee, Fla.
Services for Mr. Dean will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Perkins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the service.
Mr. Dean was born in Frankfort on July 2, 1927, and was the son of the late Garrett L. Dean Sr. and Sylvia Gordon Lancaster. He served in the United States Army and retired from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Before relocating to Florida, he was an active member of Buck Run Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Aileen Doris Johnson Dean, and half-sister, Vivian Sue “Tootie” Pierce.
Mr. Dean is survived by his sons, Lanny Dean, Okeechobee, Fla., and Tim Dean, Frankfort; granddaughter, Tara Dean; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce Monroe and Tracy Dean.
Pallbearers are Lanny Dean, Tim Dean, Larry VanHoose, Edgar Bennett, Dwayne Bennett and Phillip Marshall. Honorary bearers are Tony Schiller, Jack Smith, James Hughes and Bill Clark.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory are encouraged to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
