Elwood “Chris” Conway, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Frankfort Medical Center.
Chris was born May 8, 1964 in Frankfort, KY. He married Karen Maria Bradford on October 28, 1989 in Bardstown, Kentucky. He is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, his daughters Angela Nicole Conway and Maria Elizabeth Conway, his mother Cindy Howser of Frankfort, his brother Colin Conway, his step-brother Rick Tucker, as well as a large group of extended family members, colleagues and friends who will miss his wit, wisdom, talent and generous nature.
He was preceded in death his father, Elwood “Doc” Conway, Jr.
Chris was a 1982 graduate of Western Hills High School where he was a Drum Major for the band. He was also a 1986 graduate of the University of Kentucky, with a double major in Psychology and Communication, with a minor in Music, where he was a proud member of the UK Marching Band.
Chris’s occupation was as “agent extraordinaire” for Sturm Insurance, but his passion was music. He was a multi-talented musician, and a moving force in the formation and operation of the Capitol City Community Band, and a member of the Louisville Winds Orchestra. Chris was also an avid soccer parent, acting as commentator and a coach for the Western Hill Girls soccer team, indoor team.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road. Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20 at Good Shepherd Church.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to the Capitol City Community Band, the Franklin County Humane Society, or the Life House for Animals. www.clarklegacycenter.com.
