Lamar Anthony “Dick” Risinger, 89, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, KY.
Visitation for Mr. Risinger will be 1-6 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Risinger was born in Bullitt County, KY, on June 12, 1924, and was the son of the late Anthony and Nettie Irene Sherill Risinger. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from the Jefferson County Public Schools where he was a bus driver. Mr. Risinger was a member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 530 and life member of VFW Post 4075 and American Legion Post 7.
He is survived by his children, Dorothy Irene Hayes, Mary Helen Sciarra (Ronald), Nora Jean Risinger, Cheryl Ann Bergstrom (Edwin), Charles R. “Rich” Risinger, Delores May Davis (Tim); grandchildren, Anthony Lamar Hayes, Cheryl Hayes Kershaw, David Scott Hayes (Michelle), Edwin Bergstrom Jr. (Andrea), Eric Bergstrom (Stephanie), Brian Bergstrom, Rhonda Sciarra, Joseph Sciarra (Jennifer), Joshua Davis (Kristen), Jessica Davis Duncan (David); eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joseph L. Risinger, Margie L. Risinger Hebel, Ronald L. Risinger and Gerald T. Risinger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Evelyn B. Risinger Wright, Wade D. Risinger and Doris J. Risinger Caple.
