With family by her side, Shirley Hazlett Baker, age 64, passed away peacefully Monday, March 17, 2014, after a long illness.
Services for Mrs. Baker will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Jumpp and Rev. Wade Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m.
Mrs. Baker was born in Frankfort on October 16, 1949. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and family — always putting others first. Mrs. Baker was a member of Leestown Gospel Church.
She is survived by son, Mike (Debbie) Baker; daughter, Janis (Tony) Wilhoite; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her former husband and dear friend, Victor Allen Baker; and special niece and caregiver, Rhonda Hazlett Tinsley. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Allen Baker, who passed away in 2007 and her parents, Charles Hazlett and Doris Mae Adkins Kring.
Pallbearers are Charles Blake Penn, Jeffrey Keith Ware, Jason Allen Ware, Jonathan Wayne Sutherland, Ronnie Gene Payton and Billy Joe Hazlett. Honorary bearers are Jessica Marie Gordon and Kassidy Lynn Penn.
