Services for Paul “Punkin” Faulconer, 82, will be conducted from Providence Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, with Reverend David Rayborn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Faulconer passed away Saturday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Paul was born March 4, 1932, in Franklin County, to the late Russell Newman and Hattie Katherine Poe Faulconer. Formerly an employee of the Franklin County School System, better known as the driver of Bus #21 “The Green Tree,” he retired as a self-employed electrician.
Paul enjoyed southern gospel music and was a favorite of many thousands who attended the National Quartet Convention where he volunteered. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Of all his accomplishments in life, Punkin was most proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Faulconer; two daughters, Paula Kay Faulconer Fallis (David G.) and Penny Allen Faulconer; grandchildren, Bryn Fallis (Laura), Shane Slattery, Lorin Slattery, and Kayla Fallis, and great-grandson, Hudson Jase Fallis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Faulconer, and a sister, Marcella Faulconer Weber.
Bryn Fallis, Shane Slattery, Clarke Beasley, Corbin Steverson, Eddie Slattery, James Holland, and John A. Ellis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lorin Slattery, Kayla Fallis, Hudson Jase Fallis, Andrea Ellis, Ed McLean, Cyrus Hancock, Hugh Bowman, John Presley, David Collins, Tera Martin, Carl Mitchell Jr., Pete Mitchell, Carl Meehan, Sonny Barnes, Eddie Burke, Michael Hutcherson, and Joseph Hutcherson.
Flowers are welcome while expressions of sympathy in Paul’s memory are encouraged to the Providence Baptist Church, 6265 Georgetown Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
