William Burton Bowling, 73, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 after an extended illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Bill was born in Ashland, Kentucky on February 18, 1941 to the late Charles and Florence Edna Gantz Bowling. He retired from Ashland Oil Incorporated after 37 years, where he worked as the Trucks and Terminal Manager in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 7, and The Masonic Home Lodge No. 940, F. & A. M. in Louisville, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances L. Bowling, and daughters, Lee (David) Nalley and Kay (Randall) Thomas, all of Frankfort. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Steven Nalley, Laura Nalley, Nicholas Thomas, Natalie Thomas, and Jacob Thomas; and was Papaw to all.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Bill’s name to any military charitable organization of your choice.
