Richard Matthew Uschan, 66, of Appleton, WI; died Monday April 28, 2014 at UW Hospital, Madison, WI. Richard was born March 7, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI; son of the late William and Pauline Uschan.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He worked for the Broward County, FL Fire and Rescue for 15 years, retiring in 2003 as their communication center supervisor. Richard retired in 2013 from Pitney-Bowes, Neenah in their customer service call center. Richard was a hard worker in whatever he did and took great pride in his work. Richard enjoyed his leisure time as well, whether he was fishing with his kids, golfing, listening to country and southern gospel music, or just sitting on his front porch with his good friend and neighbor, Pat, watching people go by. Richard’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his children, who were the most important people in his life.
Richard is survived by his two children, son Shawn (Misty) Uschan, Killeen, TX; and daughter Tracy (Chris) Pickett, Canyon Lake, TX; six grandchildren MacKenzie Uschan, Shane Carr, Sean Carr, Tori Stevenson, J.D. Stevenson, and Riley Pickett; brother William Uschan, Appleton; sister Rhonda Uschan, Appleton; niece Cynthia Uschan, Frankfort, KY; nephew Jonathan (Scarlette) Uschan, Harrodsburg, KY; three cousins Jeanette (William) Klandrud, Lake Mills, WI; Mary Jean (Carl) Klein, New Berlin, WI; and Wayne (Vickie) Moore, Frankfort, KY; and his dear friends and neighbors Pat and Bridgette McGuire, Appleton.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday May 2, 2014 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton, WI. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, KY.
