David Edward ‘Eddie’ Rogers

Celebration of Life Services for David Edward “Eddie” Rogers, 66, Frankfort, will be held 6 p.m. Friday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home.  Dr. Scott Rollins will officiate. Eddie died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center, Lexington.

A native of Frankfort, Eddie was a 1966 graduate of Franklin County High School. He was a United States Army veteran, where he received the Air Medal for flying over 25 missions over hostile territory while serving in Vietnam.  He worked at WKYT-TV, Lexington as an engineer and camera operator, was founder, owner and operations manager for WKED-AM radio in Frankfort, working also as an on air announcer, producer and writer of all programs commercials and promotions. He was the ABC Network coordinator of the local, state and national news. He retired from Jobbers Exhaust Warehouse in Lexington after working as a truck driver, parts delivery in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, Tennessee and Virginia and inhouse sales for twenty years. He was a member of Graefenburg Baptist Church, American Legion Post 7 in Frankfort.

Eddie was the son of the late John “Babe” and Edith Smith Rogers and was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia “Lane” Rogers. Survivors include his wife Jacquelyn “Jacki” Smith Rogers, Frankfort; daughter, Tonya L. (Jeff) Johnson, Crestwood; stepdaughter, Summer (Chad) Strasburger, Frankfort, grandchildren Tanner and Madison Johnson, Crestwood; and Grayson, Wyatt and Jake Strasburger, Frankfort.

Honorary bearers will be David Collins, Bowen Roberts, Jim Helphinstine, Rod Fritz, Garrett Carter, Gary Shouse, Robert Scrogham, Steve Anderson and Mason Sharp.

Visitation will be held Friday from 3:30-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
