Ethel Cottongim Inabnitt Smith, 84, passed away after a long illness at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Services for Mrs. Smith will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
A native of Somerset, KY, she was born January 4, 1930, to Joseph Stivers and Dora Rogers Cottongim. She was a seamstress and retired from Fruit of the Loom after 32 years of service. Mrs. Smith was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and sampling different cuisines.
Mrs. Smith was the widow of Henry C. “Bob” Smith and was preceded in death by a son, Paul Allen Inabnitt; her parents; two brothers, Elmer Lee and Harold Cottongim; and a sister, Christine Rayborn
She is survived by a son, Daniel Ray (Teresa) Inabnitt; two daughters, Diana (Millard) Dean, Janice (Dan L.) Carrier; five grandchildren, Rhonda Brown, Bradford Inabnitt, Jeannie Lewis, Wesley Inabnitt, Ashleigh Carrier; seven great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vearl, James D. and Kenneth Cottongim; two sisters, Catherine Thompson, Audrey Quarry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
