Margaret Chapman Albers passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Margaret was the widow of Frank B. Albers Jr. (Buddy) and was also preceded in death by son Frank B. Albers III (Frankie) and grandson, Edward Hanley Albers.
Born in Louisville 86 years ago to the late Charles W. and Eva Mae Chapman, she was also preceded in death by three siblings, Charles W. Chapman Jr (Buster), Henry Chapman and Geneva Pace.
She is survived by daughter, Donna Harrod, and son-in-law, Harold Scott Harrod (Scotty). Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren Dr. Chad M. Kays and wife, Jennifer; Phillip Wayne Albers; and Dr. Jason Scott Harrod and wife, Kelley. Great-grandchildren surviving are Drew S. Harrod, Madison M. Kays, Aiden T. Kays, Lauren E. Harrod, Dale E. Albers, Kaleb J. Albers, Savannah B. Albers, Madalyn A. Albers and Baylee K. Albers.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she enjoyed her Meals After Mass circle of friends, Mary Lou, Francine, Carolyn, Don, Martha, Susie, Candy and Father Charles, and was a member of the Senior Shepherds. She was also a member of the VFW 4075 Ladies Auxiliary.
Some may remember her as the Dairy Queen Lady. She and Buddy ran the original DQ on Louisville Road in the 60s and 70s.
A celebratory mass will be officiated by Father Charles Howell on Friday at noon at Good Shepherd Church with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
Active pallbearers will be Chad M. Kays, Jason S. Harrod, Phillip W. Albers, James Albers, Robbie Albers, Jerry Albers and Kevin O’Neil.
Honorary pallbearers will be Francine and Steve Otten, Sandra and Robert Chilton, Janice and Larry Williams, Jackie Purdy, Patty and Doug Marshall, Jodie Hillard, John and Cindy Costigan, June and Harold Harrod, Mary Lou Wimpsett and Candy Kaliz.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested in her memory to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 70 Shepherd Way, Frankfort, KY 40601 or Hospice Care Center, One St. Joseph Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
