Marvin “Ned” Cole, 89 of Kansas, formerly of Frankfort, Ky., passed away May 25, 2014. He was born June 22, 1924 in Pulaski County. He is a US Navy WWII Veteran, serving in the South Pacific from 1941-47. He was a graduate of Georgetown College Class of 1951. Marvin worked for the State of Kentucky for 34 years. While living in Frankfort, he joined the US Navy Reservists as a recruiter and proudly served as an honor guard for VFW Post 4075.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Imogene Ferrell Cole; two daughters: Melanie Cole Matthews (and husband, Robert Matthews) of Kansas City and Dr. Lucinda Cole-Markley (and husband, Dr. Robert Markley) of Portland, Maine; two grandchildren, Hunter Cole Matthews and Cole Christian Matthews; one brother, Maurice Cole; one sister, Norma Jean Woodrum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be Sat. July 19 at 11:30 a.m. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland with gathering time for visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery with military honors. Guestbook at www.wlpruitt.com.
