Corine Mitchell Carpenter, 87 years, died July 23, 2014. A well-known Frankfort businesswoman, she owned and operated Mitchell’s Clothing Store on Broadway for more than 64 years.
She was the daughter of Virgil and Margaret Hockensmith Mitchell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Otto Kring, Kenton McDonald and Ralph Carpenter; and two brothers, Raymond Mitchell and Virgil Mitchell Jr. She is survived by two sons, Phillip (Cathy) Kring and Greg Kring; five grandchildren, Michelle (Jamie) Fister, Andrea Kring, Maggie (Ian) Taylor, Emma (Daniel) Scott, David Kring; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-daughters, Keila (John) Carpenter Thomas and Karla Jo Isaac. Mrs. Carpenter is also survived by brothers, James (Lucille) Mitchell, Joe (Brenda) Mitchell and Leonard (JoAnn) Mitchell; and sisters, Christine (Arvin) Webster, Mary (Donald) Settle, Juanita Willoughby, and Betty Steverson; and by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Carpenter will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Ellestad officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2-5 p.m. and Monday from noon until the service hour.
Jamie Fister, Ian Taylor, Justin Burger, Daniel Scott, David Kring and Ashby Sanderson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be her nieces and nephews.
