Edrena Carma Evans Gray was born on Feb. 4, 1935, in Frankfort, Kentucky. She was called to eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2014, after a long illness.
Services for Mrs. Gray will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Mr. Alvin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. until the service hour.
Edrena was employed at King’s Daughters Hospital and Bell South Telephone Company for 16 years at each. Her favorite hobbies were bowling, sewing, ceramics, bingo, needlepoint and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Gray; her parents, George L. and Cornelia B. Evans; and a sister, Jean E. Tanner.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Eric E. Evans (Sheila); two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Georgetta Jones, Frankfort, Daisy B. Henry, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Edythe Calhoun, Rantoul, Ill.; a special nephew, Richard Hawkins (Marsha); and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family offers a special thank you to Kimberly Jones and Louis “Buddy” Metcalf for their loving care during her illness.
Pallbearers are Ike Yett, Jamie Graham, Robert Jones, Aran Hawkins, Samuel McIntosh and Robert Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Louis Metcalf, Robert Redding, John Medlock and Charles Henry Robinson.
Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy in her memory are encouraged to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort.
