Elsie Sullivan Franklin, 78, of Frankfort and formerly of Anderson County, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at The Lantern after a long illness.
A native of Fayette County, she retired from Kentucky State Government, Kentucky State Police. She was a Charter member of Farmdale Baptist Church.
Elsie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles Franklin; daughter, Debbie Aitken; three sons, Mike Franklin (Rhonda Barmore), Jeff Franklin (Lori), and Danny Franklin (Jennifer); eight grandchildren, Heather Davis, Helen Aitken, Sarah Aitken, Scott Aitken (Sharma), Erin Schaffner, Annie Franklin, Nathan Swatzyna and Josh Caudle; eight great-grandchildren, Keenan Brown, Canton Jackson, Robert Aitken, Jaevyn Aitken, Shamari Aitken, Kenneth Aitken Jr., Riley Schaffner and Sam Schaffner; three brothers, Donnie Sullivan (Evelyn), David Sullivan (Nancy) and Doug Sullivan (Wanda); sister, Sue Guffy; other sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sullivan and Lois Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Templeton and Ethel McCall Sullivan, as well as six brothers and four sisters.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceburg, with Pastor Steve Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Aitken, Robert Aitken, Nathan Swatzyna, Josh Caudle, Gary Sullivan, Steve Sullivan and Kenny Evans. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
