Elizabeth “Betsy” Elliott Goodlett, 91, of Frankfort, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died on Thursday, the 28th day of August, 2014, at her daughter’s residence. A native of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John Alan and Mary Elizabeth Russell Elliott and the widow of Joseph William Goodlett. She was a former employee of Bendix in Frankfort, and her work ethic and devotion to her children and grandchildren were exemplary. She had a deep and abiding love for church and church family. As a young lady, she became a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church in Harrodsburg. Over 60 years ago, she moved her membership to the Alton Baptist Church where she had been a very active member and children’s Sunday School teacher. In recent years, she enjoyed an association with the First Christian Church in Frankfort and the Simpsonville United Methodist Church in Shelby County. Well acquainted with the scriptures, reading the Bible was for her an important and frequent commitment. An exceptional seamstress, sewing and quilting were among her favorite hobbies, and her handwork was meticulous. She also enjoyed gardening and music. One of her greatest joys was cooking a large, Kentucky-style breakfast for her grandchildren, Trey and Megan Greenwell, and their friends, and the opportunity she had to spend time in the company of these young people.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerel W. Goodlett; her sisters, Gertie Mae Elliott Huffman and Katherine Elliott Pankey; and her brothers, Morris Elliott, Carl Elliott, Walter Elliott, Edgar Elliott, Albert Elliott and Johnny Elliott.
In addition to her grandchildren, her survivors include her daughter, Jolene Goodlett Greenwell, and her husband, Tommy, of Frankfort; and her brother, Roy Leon Elliott, and his wife, Ann, of Daphne, Ala.
