Cecil Bronson Cornn, 93, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2014.
Services for Mr. Cornn will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Reverend Todd Lester will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
He was born in the Sinai community in Anderson County on Dec. 3, 1920, the son of the late William Jackson Cornn and Nora Mae Lane. Mr. Cornn was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the 3rd Engineer Special Brigade 533rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, United States Army. Mr. Cornn was a successful farmer in Franklin County for 65 years, retiring at age 92. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4075. He was a colorful character full of life and a hard worker. He fought a brave battle up to the end when he went to meet his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith McMakin; grandsons, George McMakin III (Natalie Lewellen), Gregory McMakin (Tammye); two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Ryan; a nephew, Chris Harp; sister, Virgie Burleson; a special friend, Mary Hackett; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Harp Cornn; brothers, Lois, Ollie Alvie and Marvin; and sisters, Goldie Johnson and Nellie Pauline Brumback.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
