Gardening School deadline Feb. 8

The Franklin County Council of Garden Clubs is accepting registration now through Feb. 8 for Course II of the Gardening Study School. It is not necessary to have taken Course I in order to sign up for Course II.

The topics for Course II include Understanding Plant Diseases and Garden Pests, How New Plants are Developed and Evaluated, Container Gardening, Techniques for Growing Vegetables, Techniques for Growing Lawns, and The World of Daylilies. Instructors are University of Kentucky professors and others who are specialists in their field.

The classes will be March 15-16 at the Franklin County Extension Office, 101 Lakeview Ct., 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be an optional exam on March 17. The fee is $35 (plus and additional $5 if taking the test or if taking the course as Consultant Refresher). This also includes lunch both days. There will be a $5 late registration/cancellation fee.
