The following special interest classes have been planned for February. Unless otherwise noted, classes will be held at the Franklin County Extension Office, 101 Lakeview Ct. For more information or to make reservations, call 695-9035 and ask for Marie.

Quilting Bee, Feb. 13 and 27, 1-3 p.m.; Feb. 28, 6-7 p.m. Learn to quilt, improve your quilting skills or solve quilting problems. Open to the public. Pre-registration: None. Cost: Free. Instructors: Members of the Central Kentucky Homemakers Quilt Guild.

Frankfort Artistic Painters & Bluegrass Tolers, Feb. 14, 9 a.m-4 p.m. Cardinal in Oil, by Janice Miller. Cost: $20. (Includes 12x16-inch canvas panel, oil paint, and pattern packet). Supplies to bring to class: #10/0 liner, assorted square flats (#6 - #10), small mop, odorless turp, gray graphite, table easel, and regular oil painting supplies. Instructor: Mary Lou Payton. Pre-register by Feb. 13.

Pointy Pinwheel Star Quilt Block, Feb. 20, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Pointy pinwheel stars are easy to assemble using a rotary cutter and sewing machine. It is set with sashing strips and corner squares. Pre-register by Feb. 19. Cost: $10. Instructor: Judith Ricks.

Antiques and Collectables, March 9-April 27, 1-3 or 7-9 p.m. Class members may check out books on antiques and bring an item to be appraised at each class meeting (verbal appraisal). Topics include: March 9, What is an Antique?; March 16, Wonderful World of Baskets; March 23 Furniture Restoration; March 30, Chinese Export China; April 6, Collecting Pattern Glass; April 13, Sterling Silver (Coin Silver); April 20, Grandmothers China, and April 27, Antique Road Show.

Sign up for day or night sessions. Cost: $30 for 1 or 8 sessions. Instructor: Ron Wells, Versailles. Pre-register by March 8 or at the first class.
