If you’re planting your garden according to the phases of the moon and signs of the zodiac, here’s the information for this week.
The moon is in the dark phase at the moment – depending on what “moment” you’re reading this. It moves to the light phase at 7:47 p.m. with the new moon, or no moon visible if the sky is clear. If you have planting to do for most of today, make it below-ground producers.
Then, if you have a little energy left and want to put out a few tomato plants before it gets dark tonight, have at it but don’t start until about 8 p.m.
Today is ruled by the very fertile sign Taurus (the neck), so veggies planted today should do well if you follow normal good gardening practices. Just make it below-ground producers until about 8.
Then beginning Monday and until the full moon at 7:12 a.m. on June 4, plant those veggies that produce above the ground, avoiding the days when killing signs rule. This period will serve as a really fine one for getting your garden in the ground.
According to the signs of the zodiac, as I just wrote, today is a fertile day with Taurus in force.
Then, with the new moon fully in force, we have two perfect bean days on Monday and Tuesday with the moon in the light phase and the sign in Gemini (the arms), which is the bean sign. They’ll be followed by two great general days for all above-ground producers on Wednesday and Thursday with the sign in Cancer (the breast), another very fruitful sign.
As I suggested last week, if you have time to take off from work then do so and get your garden planted. And, of course, if you’re retired then be planting since we’re in the middle of 6 great planting days, with four of them yet to come!
You’ll be tired by the end of the week, so take a rest from planting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the sign having moved to Leo (the heart) one of the killing signs. I know no one wants to hear that on a weekend and it’s a bummer to report but nonetheless I just wouldn’t be planting on days ruled by killing signs.
Then beginning on Memorial Day, May 28, and continuing for the rest of May we find a series of flowering signs in force just in time to start, finish or augment your summer flower planting. With the moon in the light phase, the sign is in first Virgo (the bowels) on May 28-29, followed by Libra (the reins) on May 30-31.
A plethora, as they say, of “bloom days!”
And then comes June!
