Weddings and Engagements: July 15



Kathryn (Katy) Marie Quarles, daughter of Mac and Cathy Quarles of Frankfort, and Justin Lee Duncan, son of Steve and Pam Duncan of Frankfort, were married June 23, 2012, 6:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne Sayre performed the ceremony.

Organist Roy Nance, trumpeter David Goins, soloists Jenny Luscher, cousin of the bride, and Nick Johnson, and a men’s quartet of Nick Johnson, Jordan Lindsey, Andrew Miller and Dee Walker provided nuptial music.

Carrie Weitzel, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Kennedy, Megan Greenwell, Kelsey Sanders and Brittany Ferry. Anna Marie Biddle and Sadie Rhodes, cousins of the bride, were flower girls.

Steve Duncan, father of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Ramsey Quarles, brother of the bride, Jim Ed Brown and Jared Smallenburg, cousins of the groom, and Justin McIntosh. Ushers were Charlie Weitzel and Rob Woodside, cousins of the bride. Brian Ramsey, cousin of the bride, and James Scott, cousin of the groom, were ring bearers.

Program attendants were Jordan and Laurel McDaniel, cousins of the bride, and Ryan Moore was the guest book attendant.

A reception at the Good Shepherd Parish Center followed the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the Duncans are making their home in Frankfort.

Mrs. Duncan is a graduate of Kentucky State University with a degree in elementary education.

Mr. Duncan is a 2005 graduate of Western Hills High School.


Mr. and Mrs. Mack Oakley Tinnon of Bowling Green announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Oakley Tinnon, to Harry Adam Shumaker II, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., son of the late Karl Thomas Shumaker, and Mr. and Mrs. James Jordan Plaster, Jr., of Tuscaloosa.

Miss Tinnon is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Edwin Watson of Frankfort and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Daniel Tinnon of Franklin.

Miss Tinnon is a 2003 graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended the University of Texas, where she received a bachelor of science degree in corporate communications in 2007. She was also a member of the University of Texas’ varsity swim team and USA Swimming National Team where she won a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio De Janiero, Brazil.

She received her master of arts degree in communication studies from the University of Alabama in 2011, and is employed as a coordinator of recruitment for the University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing.

Mr. Shumaker graduated from Tuscaloosa Academy in 2003 and attended the University of Alabama, where he received a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 2008. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and is employed as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

The wedding will be at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa.

A closed wedding will be observed.


Mr. and Mrs. William C. Goins of Frankfort announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Tate Goins, to Jason Scott Hyatt, son of Ron and Conney Hyatt, also of Frankfort.

Miss Goins graduated summa cum laude from Western Kentucky University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in history and is currently employed by the Kentucky Division of Historic Properties.

Mr. Hyatt earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky in 2005, as well as his master’s degree in public administration from Kentucky State University in 2009. He works as an engineer for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The wedding will be Sept. 22 and the couple plans to make their home in Frankfort.
