Women’s Retreat set for 1st Assembly

A Women’s Retreat hosted by Frankfort First Assembly of God is set for July 26-28. Women from all over the state will gather for praise and worship music, a guest speaker, and relevant breakout sessions.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday and continues Friday, 9 a.m.-noon and at 7, and Saturday at 10. Susanne Cox will be the guest speaker. The cost for the entire event is $20 for students (14-22), and $40 per person for those over 22. The registration fee includes breakfast on Friday at 8 and Saturday at 9. Also included is an “After Glow,” which is a time of fellowship and refreshments, immediately following the Friday night service.

One-day VBS is Saturday

A one-day Vacation Bible School is planned for Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the West Frankfort Church of God, Louisville Road. The theme is “Living By Faith” and it’s for ages 4-12. Bikers invited for worship, cookout

The House of Refuge Life Center, 312 Wallace Ave., is inviting all bikers for worship and a cookout at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker is Brent Barnett of First Baptist Church, Winchester with special music by Bonnie Reeves and Company. For more information call 502-352-2922.

Capital City plans ‘Next Gen Event’

Capital City Christian Church is planning a Next Gen Worship Event for Sunday, July 29 beginning 6:30 p.m. at the church, Versailles Road between Crossroads Ford and Capital Chevrolet. Next Gen is a high-energy worship event that combines newer Christian praise and worship songs at a volume level that appeals to a generation that enjoys loud, rocking and refreshing worship.

Next Gen is geared for those in the 16-30 age group but the worship event is open to all. The Next Gen Event will be led by one of the worship teams from Capital City Christian Church.

Benefit for Whalen Aug. 4

South of Heaven Ministries will host a fundraiser for Ryan Whalen on Saturday, Aug. 4 at North Frankfort Baptist Church, 7945 Owenton Rd. Food will be served in the fellowship hall beginning at 5 p.m. with a gospel singing at 6:30.

Whalen is hospitalized in UK Critical Care Decision Unit awaiting a heart transplant.

Church giving school supplies

Graefenburg Baptist Church will give away school supplies to K-6 students on Sunday, Aug. 5, 4-6 p.m. at the church 4 on Highway 60 (Louisville Road), just west of the Franklin/Shelby County line.  Phone 223-5325 for more information.

The back-to-school giveaway will be followed by a free pizza party at 5:30 and the monthly performance of “Hosanna House” at 6. “Hosanna House” is a children’s ministry that uses skits and songs to illustrate Biblical virtues.  The show is broadcast on Frankfort Plant Board cable channel 10 at 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Choateville plans Bible conference
