‘A Century of Choral Cinema’ is Sunday, 7 p.m.

Special to The State Journal Published:

The Chautauqua Summer Choir will present “A Century of Choral Cinema” on Sunday, Aug. 19, 7 p.m. in Asbury Hall of First United Methodist Church.  This is the third program in the month-long Chautauqua series.

Movie clips highlight each decade of the 20th century as the choir and soloists sing choral hits.  Beginning with Charlie Chaplain and ending with “Hairspray,” the rousing program offers a plethora of great cinema music.

David Goins directs the 45-voice choir and 10-piece instrumental ensemble. The final program is Aug. 26 with “The Penny Loafers” performing smooth music from the 1950s sung a capella by a male quartet, also in Asbury Hall.
