Capital City Chorale’s annual Christmas concert is at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, St. Clair Street. Tickets are $6 per person at the door and there are refreshments after the concert. Gary Johnson directs the Chorale.

Western Hills High School choral department will offer a free program at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the school.


Bondurant Middle School holiday concert is at Western Hills High School, Thursday, Dec. 13. Sixth and seventh grade bands and choruses perform at various times beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The Lantern, 66 C. Michael Davenport Blvd., will host an open house and its Second Annual Festival of Trees from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. Refreshments and drinks will be served and there will be a silent auction.

Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Rd., presents its annual program of sacred and secular Christmas music entitled “Just in Time for Christmas” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 16. The program is free and a nursery is provided. For more information call 223-1165.

Franklin County Women’s Shelter Open House/Arts Sale on Saturday, Dec. 15, 1-4 p.m. at the shelter, 303 E. Third St. Photos of items posted on and Facebook page. All proceeds go to the shelter, the resident artist and the art fund.

St. John A.M.E. Church, 201 Clinton St., presents “A Hero’s Christmas,” in search of a “New Superhero” sent by G.O.D., 3 p.m.

Immanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Collins Lane, will host “A Celebration of Carols,” a seasonal cantata by Joseph Martin presented by IBC’s Sanctuary Choir at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Rd., presents a Christmas cantata performed by the Chancel Choir, 11 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 16 and a children’s Christmas play/program at 6:30 with refreshments and a visit from Santa.

Frankfort Children Singers Christmas Concert will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 201 St. Clair St.  The group is composed of boys and girls in grades 2-8 and is directed by Linda McKinley and Christen Jones.  The program ranges from “Alleluia” by Boyce to Simeone’s arrangement of “ ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”  The concert is free and open to the public.

The Lexington Singers present Handel’s Messiah at the Singletary Center for the Arts on Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $20, $18 for seniors and $15 students. Tickets can be obtained through the Singletary Box Office at 859-257-4929, or online  Group discounts are available.
