Local musicians to perform ‘Behold the Lamb of God’

Special to The State Journal, Published:

Several local musicians are coming together to present Andrew Peterson’s critically-acclaimed musical “Behold the Lamb of God: the True Tall Tale of the Coming of Christ” Friday, 7 p.m. at Point Community Church and at 6 p.m. Sunday at Buck Run Baptist Church.

There will be no childcare at Point Community and childcare for those under four at Buck Run.

“Behold the Lamb of God” is a departure from typical Christmas presentations that center on holiday classics. It peers deeply into the Old Testament, walking chronologically through the historic events that culminated in the birth of Christ. The songs range in style from Bluegrass, to folk, to Epic World Rock.

Musicians and vocalists include John Bennett, Adam Bishop, Beth Current, Doug Dearinger, Andrew Dodson, Dan Hughes, Derek Hughes, Lucy Karsner, David Martin, Josh Martin, Joe Meyer and Sadie Meyer. Together, they represent seven different church fellowships and multiple denominations.

Bennett, a vocalist, said that what brings the diverse group together is the message the songs in “Behold the Lamb of God” contain.

“Ultimately, the message of Behold the Lamb is the message of the Gospel: there’s hope for all of us. We love singing and playing these songs, in part because they’re simple and accessible and beautiful, but more so because they remind us not only of the baby in the manger, but the Savior on the cross.”

Admission is free. A love offering will be taken to help support the Mango Tree Orphanage in Haiti. For more information, visit http://btlogfrankfort.com .
