Plans are now underway for the annual Student Art Exhibit sponsored by the Capital Area Art Guild. The event will be staged during the month of March in the fourth floor Community Room of Farmers Bank Downtown. There are two age categories.
The work of students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be exhibited from March 4-15 with the work of those in grades 6-12 hanging March 18-29. The exhibit is open for public viewing during regular banking hours.
NEW RULES THIS YEAR
Because of the large amount of work turned in last year and space limitations, these guidelines will be followed:
>Entries are open to Franklin County, Frankfort Independent, private school and home-school students.
>No more than 10 pieces of art per class.
>Teachers must select the pieces to be exhibited in the show. Unfortunately, there’s not room for everything.
>In order to accommodate more students, only one piece of art per child will be accepted.
>The child’s name, grade and school or home address should be displayed in the front right corner so that those visiting the exhibit may see the name of the young artist. This helps, too, in returning the art following the show.
>A suitable construction paper or paper mat should be used.
>The selected works of art will be picked up at school office on the following dates: grades K-5, March 1; grades 6-12, March 15.
>Artwork will be returned to schools following close of each exhibit.
Receptions for students, parents, grandparents and teachers are: K-2, 4-6 p.m. March 7; grades 3-5, 4-6 p.m. March 12; grades 6-12, March 26.
Art teachers or parents of home-schooled students may contact Sallie Lanham at 695-4472 for information.
Members of CAAG are asking for cooperation in gathering a variety of pleasing work and are hoping that combined efforts will further interest in art education, both in our schools and community.
