Community Good Friday
Service noon at First Christian
The Frankfort-Franklin County Ministerial Association will hold a community Good Friday service noon Good Friday at First Christian Church, 316 Ann St. The speaker will be the Rev. Derek Catron, pastor of the Cornerstone Nazarene Church.
A special offering to benefit the Resource Office of Social Ministries (ROSM) will be taken.
St. John AME, First Baptist
plan joint Easter service
St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church and First Baptist Church will hold their annual “Son-rise Fellowship Service” 6 a.m. Easter at the St. John Church, Clinton Street. The Rev. Robert Earl Houston will be the speaker, the First Baptist Church Choir will sing and breakfast will follow.

Good Friday: First Baptist Church, 100 Clinton Street, will host a noon service featuring the “Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross” with local and area pastors speaking.
Easter: A “Throwback” program at 9:30 a.m. Easter will feature speeches presented by the children and youth of the church. The Magnificent Mass Choir will provide the music for the 11 a.m. service.
The Evergreen Baptist Church choir presents a cantata entitled “It is Finished” at 10:45 a.m. Palm Sunday.
St. Paul Methodist
The following is scheduled at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Rd.
Palm Sunday: Easter Egg hunt for the children following the 11 a.m. worship service. A light lunch will be provided for the participants.
Maundy Thursday: 7 p.m., “Christ’s Betrayal and Passion” presented by the Chancel, Power and Bell Choirs, along with other cast members.
Easter Day Sunrise Service: 7 a.m. in the memorial garden, weather permitting; otherwise in the church narthex. A light breakfast will follow the service in fellowship hall.
Peaks Mill Christian
Good Friday: 6 p.m., “The Room Upstairs,” a program set in the upper room where Jesus and his followers traditionally gathered to celebrate the Passover on the night when Jesus was betrayed, will be held at Peaks Mill Christian Church, 7534 Peaks Mill Rd.
The program is structured around an actual Jewish Seder meal, as audience members become participants. The meal and program last about 90 minutes. For more information call the church, 227-9800. The community is invited to participate.

Monday and Tuesday: Contemplative Holy Eucharist based on the liturgy of the Taize monastic community, 7 p.m.

Maundy Thursday: Institution of the Last Supper which includes the Washing of Feet, the Stripping of the Altar and is followed by the all night Vigil with the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose, 7 p.m.
Good Friday: Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion, noon; Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday that includes the reading of the Passion, the Veneration of the Cross, the sung Reproaches and Holy Communion, 7 p.m.
Holy Saturday: Great Vigil of Easter that includes the Lighting of the New Fire, candle light vigil of lessons and Psalms set to ancient chant, and Solemn Holy Eucharist, 8 p.m.
