Forks of Elkhorn kids

taking part in famine

Fourth and fifth grade students from Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church will take part in a 20-hour famine starting 6 p.m. March 28 and ending 2:30 p.m. March 29 to raise money for World Vision. During the time they will participate in 20 service projects including at the church, Veterans Administration in Lexington, the soup kitchen and Emily Apartments.

Memorial Baptist

Dr. Brad Allen, author of “Catch the Wind,” the story of spiritual awakening in the Hebrides Islands from 1949-53, will speak at the Spiritual Awakening Conference set for Memorial Baptist Church, 130 Holmes St. Services are 6:30 p.m. March 28-30 and 10:50 a.m. March 31.

Church plans revival

Providence plans

consignment sale

A children’s consignment sale will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 13 at Providence Baptist Church, Georgetown Road. Consignors are invited to sell gently used children’s items like beds, high chairs, activity centers, changing tables, toys, books, DVDs, bottle and clothes.

Proceeds will be divided with 75 percent going to the consignor and 25 percent to the Simon House. Those wishing to consign items may find detailed information by visiting or by calling Michelle Barnes, 502-320-4716. The deadline to consign items is April 3.

Progressive Baptist

Conference April 1-4

The 50th Annual Session of the Progressive National Baptist Convention Midwest Region Conference will convene April 1-4 at the Hyatt Hotel in Lexington. A welcome program and musical will be featured April 1.

The anniversary banquet is on the evening of April 3. Dr. Elmer LeSure of Chicago, Illinois will give his annual address April 4. Dr. Thomas H. Peoples, Jr. and members of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church are the hosts and the Kentucky State Convention of the PNBC and Rev. Robert Earl Houston president are the co-hosts. Harvieland Methodist

plans April revival

Harvieland United Methodist Church, Flat Creek Road, has planned a revival 6 p.m. April 5-6 and 11 a.m. April 7. There will be special music at each service, “South of Heaven Ministries,” “Cross Tithes,” Richard Wright, Kelly Adams and David Smith. A potluck will follow the April 7 service.
