Editor’s Note: This is the final time we will publish the Holy Week Events Calendar. Thanks to all in our churches who took the time to submit special services and events and to invite the community to share in them. Community Good Friday Service at First Christian

The Frankfort-Franklin County Ministerial Association will hold a community Good Friday service noon Friday at First Christian Church, 316 Ann St. The speaker will be the Rev. Derek Catron, pastor of the Cornerstone Nazarene Church.

A special offering to benefit the Resource Office of Social Ministries (ROSM) will be taken.

Good Friday

at New Life

New Life Worship Center, 770 Ridgeview Dr., will hold a 7 p.m. Good Friday service followed by communion.

St. John AME,

First Baptist plan joint Easter service

St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church and First Baptist Church will hold their annual “Son-rise Fellowship Service” 6 a.m. Easter at the St. John Church, Clinton Street. The Rev. Robert Earl Houston will be the speaker, the First Baptist Church Choir will sing and breakfast will follow.

Quest Easter Fest

Quest Community Church’s Frankfort Campus, 2250 Lawrenceburg Rd., is hosting its annual Easter Fest beginning 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be inflatables, face painting, food vendors and a giant egg hunt with 15,000 eggs. There will also be prizes and free pictures with the Easter Bunny. Pre-register for the egg hunt at ilovefrankfort.com. The first 100 to pre-register will receive two ounces of Lucy Lou’s Frozen Yogurt. A service follows at 6.

Comamandery

Frankfort Commandery #4 will hold an Easter sunrise service Sunday at the Frankfort Cemetery. In case of inclement weather the service will be held at the Masonic Hall, 308 Ann St.

New Harvest plans

Easter egg hunt

New Harvest Assembly of God, 3864 US HWY 127 South, will host an Easter egg hunt 6 p.m. Easter following a fellowship meal. There will be age group divisions. For more information call 502-607-0306.

First Baptist

Good Friday: First Baptist Church, 100 Clinton Street, will host a noon service featuring the “Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross” with local and area pastors speaking.

Easter: A “Throwback” program at 9:30 a.m. Easter will feature speeches presented by the children and youth of the church. The Magnificent Mass Choir will provide the music for the 11 a.m. service.  

St. Paul Methodist

The following is scheduled at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Rd.

TONIGHT: 7, “Christ’s Betrayal and Passion” presented by the Chancel, Power and Bell Choirs, along with other cast members.  

Easter Day Sunrise Service: 7 a.m. in the memorial garden, weather permitting; otherwise in the church narthex.  A light breakfast will follow the service in fellowship hall. 

First Christian

First Christian Church, 316 Ann Street has scheduled the following services.

TONIGHT: 6:15, Chenault Christian Life Center, communion and hand washing, music by Disciple Ringers handbells.

Easter: Music by Chancel Choir and brass ensemble, 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services.

Good Shepherd

These special services are planned for Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 72 Shepherd Way.

TONIGHT: 7, Mass of the Lord’s Supper and washing of feet; 8:30-10, vigil before the Blessed Sacrament

Good Friday: noon, Stations of the Cross; 3, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet; 7 p.m., communion and Veneration of the Cross

Holy Saturday: 8:45 p.m., Easter vigil mass

Peaks Mill Christian

Good Friday: 6 p.m., “The Room Upstairs,” a program set in the upper room where Jesus and his followers traditionally gathered to celebrate the Passover on the night when Jesus was betrayed, will be held at Peaks Mill Christian Church, 7534 Peaks Mill Rd.

The program is structured around an actual Jewish Seder meal, as audience members become participants. The meal and program last about 90 minutes. For more information call the church, 227-9800. The community is invited to participate.

Highland Christian

These services are planned for Highland Christian Church, 265 Versailles Rd., 502-875-3100.

TONIGHT: 6, Maundy Thursday service

Easter Sunday: A Sunrise Service will be held beginning at 7 a.m. in the Circle Driveway. In case of inclement weather, the service will be in the sanctuary. A pancake breakfast will follow.

Crestwood Baptist

The choir of Crestwood Baptist Church, 1006 E. Main St., presents the cantata “It Is Finished,” 10:45 a.m. Easter.

Hope Lutheran

The following services and events are planned for Hope Lutheran Church, 1251 Louisville Rd.

TONIGHT: A Seder meal is at 5:30 with a Maundy Thursday worship service at 7.

Good Friday: Worship, 7 p.m.

Saturday: Easter Vigil at 7

Easter: Breakfast at 9 a.m., service to follow

Hope Community

Hope Community Church, 5930 U.S. 127 South, has planned the following special services. Childcare for children through first grade is provided for all the evening services.

TONIGHT: Seder meal and communion, 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday service, 6:30 p.m.

Saturday: Holy Saturday service, 6:30 p.m.

Easter: Sunrise service, 7 a.m.

Indian Fork Baptist

BAGDAD – These services and events are scheduled for Indian Fork Baptist Church, Hwy 12, Bagdad.

TONIGHT at 6:30 a Maundy Thursday service is planned.

Good Friday: 6:30 p.m. service

Saturday: 1 p.m., Children’s Easter egg hunt

Easter: 7 a.m. Sunrise service, breakfast to follow; the choir will perform “Calvary’s Love” during the 11 a.m. service

Forks of Elkhorn

MIDWAY – These services and events are planned for Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, 495 Duckers Rd.

TONIGHT at 6 a Maundy Thursday communion service is planned.

Good Friday: 6:30 p.m., prayer service at the cross (inside the church if inclement weather)

Bridgeport Christian

The following services are planned for Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Rd. Childcare is available for all services.

TONIGHT: Arrive between 6 and 7 p.m. to take a spiritual tour through the story of Jesus.

Good Friday 12:30-1 p.m. service

Easter: 7 a.m. Sunrise Service with area churches at Roy Smith’s farm, 1070 Bridgeport-Benson Rd.; breakfast at 9:30; Easter egg hunt at 10 between services at 8:30 and 11.

West Frankfort

Church of God

The following are planned for the West Frankfort Church of God, 1518 Louisville Rd.

Good Friday: Program performed by the B.R.A.T.S. and Teens, 7 p.m. For more information contact Bobby Owens, 502-803-1939.

Easter: Sunrise Service, 7 a.m.

Church of the Ascension

The Church of the Ascension-Episcopal, 311 Washington St., has scheduled these Holy Week services.

TONIGHT: 7, Institution of the Last Supper which includes the Washing of Feet, the Stripping of the Altar and is followed by the all night Vigil with the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose.

Good Friday: 7 p.m., Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion, noon; Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday that includes the reading of the Passion, the Veneration of the Cross, the sung Reproaches and Holy Communion.

Holy Saturday: 8 p.m., Great Vigil of Easter that includes the Lighting of the New Fire, candle light vigil of lessons and Psalms set to ancient chant, and Solemn Holy Eucharist.

Easter: Easter Liturgy, 8 a.m.; Festival Holy Eucharist, 10:30 with Easter egg hunt and reception to follow.

St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Todd Street, has scheduled the following services.

TONIGHT at 6: St. Andrew’s Anglican parish in Versailles, joint potluck and sandwich dinner for parish members of St. Peter’s Anglican Church and their friends; 7 p.m. Holy Eucharist for both parishes. 

Good Friday: 6 p.m., evening service, no nursery provided.

Camp Pleasant

These activities are planned for Camp Pleasant Baptist Church, 830 Shadrick Ferry Road.

Easter: Community sunrise service around the bonfire at the church, 6:30 a.m. Doughnuts and coffee after the service; Easter egg hunt after the 11 a.m. service.

Graefenburg Christian

These events have been planned for Graefenburg Christian Church at the intersection of U.S. 60 and 151.

Saturday: Easter egg hunt for ages two through sixth grade with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the hunt at 11.

Easter: Sunrise service, 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow.

East Frankfort Baptist

The choir at East Frankfort Baptist Church, 457 Versailles Rd., will present the Easter cantata, “It Would Take a Cross” at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Calvary Baptist

Calvary Baptist Church, 36 Schoolhouse Road will hold an 8 a.m. sunrise service Easter followed by breakfast. At 10:45, the choir presents a cantata, “He Rises,” under the direction of Dave Shelton.

Farmdale Baptist

An 8 a.m. Resurrection Service will be held Sunday at Farmdale Baptist Church, 5610 U.S. 127 South.
