Queen’s series of classes
The next class in the series “Living the Questions: An Introduction to Progressive Christianity” continues 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall of Immanuel Baptist Church. Chuck Queen is facilitating the discussion. All are welcome.
The dates and topics are as follows: Aug 21, Incarnation: Divinely Human; Aug 28, Prayer: Intimacy with God; Sept 4, Compassion: The Heart of Jesus’ Ministry; Sept 11, Creative Transformation; and Sept 21, Embracing Mystery.
series on Old Testament
The Unitarian Universalist Community of Frankfort is offering a DVD series on the Old Testament led by Amy-Jill Levine, a biblical scholar and professor of religion at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 859 E. Main St. The next session will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The free 12-session series is open to the public and includes analysis of the content of the biblical books, critical methods through which they have been interpreted and the debates about their meaning over the years. John Seybold will lead the discussion that follows each presentation.

Chautauqua 2013 concludes Sunday at First Methodist Church, 211 Washington St., 6 p.m. with Thomas W. Brawner III conducting the Capital City Community Band. Child care is available.
