Art broker speaking to Guild Monday
Vida Schottenstein, a former art broker will discuss procedures for pricing art work, licensing art work and forming art businesses at the 7:30 p.m. Monday meeting of the Capital Area Art Guild at 228 W. Main St.
Ladies Auxiliary plans fundraiser
The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4075 is hosting a fundraiser for cancer aid and research from 5:30-8 p.m. Jan. 13 at the post on Second Street.
The event will feature a chili cook-off. There’s a $10 fee for those wanting to participate and money from entry fees will be divided among the top three finishers. In addition to the chili, there will be sandwiches, drinks and desserts for sale.

Auditions set for ‘Almost, Maine’
SHELBYVILLE — Shelby County Community Theatre is holding auditions for John Cariani’s romantic comedy “Almost, Maine,” to be directed by Larry Chaney as part of the Upstairs at 801 Series.
Auditions will be held at the theater, 801 Main St., at 7 p.m. Jan. 26-27. Parts are available for four women and four men ages 21 and older. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Performance dates are March 21-23. For more information, call 502-633-0222.
Rotary offering scholarships
The Rotary Club of Frankfort will offer scholarships to graduating seniors from Frankfort High School, Franklin County High School and Western Hills High School. Applications are available at each school’s counselor’s office and must be completed and returned by Feb. 6.
A recipient from each school will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Also, $750 scholarships will be offered to GED students at Thorn Hill Education Center. Other scholarships include a math/science scholarship for $1,000 from Renshaw, Wix and Associates Dental Practice and a $1,500 scholarship for a student pursuing a vocational/technical degree.
