Pavlik speaking to Woman’s Club

Anna Marie Pavlik will be the speaker at the 12:30 p.m. Monday meeting of the Woman’s Club of Frankfort in the Woman’s Club Building, 200 Washington St. The public is invited.

The Woman’s Club of Frankfort is a civic organization concentrating on the betterment of women and children in Frankfort. The club meets on the second Monday of the month and visitors are welcome. If the Franklin County School System is closed because of the weather, the club will not meet.

 

Jackson speaking to Shelby DAR

Sherron Jackson, Civil War re-enactor, will speak about living conditions during the Civil War at the 11 a.m. Saturday meeting of the Susannah Hart Shelby Chapter, NSDAR at the Church of the Ascension, 311 Washington St.   The meeting is open to any woman interested in learning about the goals of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

 

‘Werther’ at Grand Saturday, 1 p.m.

The Metropolitan Opera’s production of Jules Massenet’s “Werther” will be broadcast live in high definition at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Theatre.

“Werther” is sung in French with English subtitles. The running time is about 3 hours, 15 minutes. Tickets are $23 for adults, $18 for students and may be purchased at the box office, 312 W. Main St., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays, by calling 502-352-7469 or at the door. The website is www.grandtheatrefrankfort.org.

 

Phi Beta Psi Sorority plans Bunko Bash

Phi Beta Psi Sorority is hosting a Bunko Bash March 18 at the Woman’s Club Building, 200 Washington St. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and play begins at 7. The cost is $15 per person and all proceeds will be used for cancer research and to assist local cancer patients. For more information contact Karen at 502-223-8644.

 

Hearn staging ‘Wicked Witch’

Hearn Elementary School will present the play “The Wicked Witch of the Old West” at 7 p.m. March 21-22 at the school. Tickets will be available at the door and are priced at $3 for adults and $1 for students.

 

‘Almost, Maine’ coming to Shelby Theatre

SHELBYVILLE — Shelby County Community Theatre’s upcoming Upstairs at 801 series production of “Almost, Maine,” written by John Cariani and directed by Larry Chaney, is set for 7:30 p.m. March 20-22 at the theater, 801 Main St.

Tickets are $15 adults, $12 seniors and $10 students. Reservations may be made by calling 502-633-0242, beginning Friday. The theatre is located at 801 Main St., Shelbyville.
