Frankfort Holy Week Calendar

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and continues through Easter, April 13-20. Here, in calendar form, are the Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday portions of our Holy Week Calendar. The complete calendar will be published Tuesday.

Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is the day when Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem is celebrated.
Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Road, 11 a.m., dramatic reading of the story of Christ’s Passion.
Hope Lutheran Church, 1251 Louisville Road, 10:30 a.m., dramatic reading of the Gospel lesson followed by erecting an outdoor cross.
South Frankfort and First Presbyterian churches, 10:15 a.m., walk to Singing Bridge to sing and pray, returning to South Frankfort for service.

Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday is the night Jesus celebrated the Jewish Feast of the Passover with his disciples, since all were Jews. The night became the traditional beginning of the Lord’s Supper, communion, Holy Eucharist — by whatever name it is called — for later followers.

Highland Christian Church, 265 Versailles Road, 6 p.m. service.
Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Road, 6-7 p.m., spiritual journey through the story of Jesus.
First Christian Church, 316 Ann St., 6:15 p.m., communion and hand washing. Childcare available.
Buck Run Baptist Church, 3894 Georgetown Road, 6:30 p.m.
South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Third and Steele streets, 6:30 p.m., dimming of lights service.
St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Road, 7 p.m. service.
First Presbyterian Church, 416 W. Main St., 7 p.m. in the chapel.
Church of the Ascension — Episcopal, 311 Washington St., 7 p.m. washing of feet, solemn choral Eucharist, all-night vigil at the Altar of Repose.
