These organizations are offering college scholarships to help local students with expenses. Other groups with scholarships available may submit them to Philip Case, pcase@state-journal.com.

New offering
Conservation District

The Franklin County Conservation District is offering scholarships to graduating seniors or current college students planning to major or majoring in an agriculture-related field. Interested students should contact the guidance counselor in his or her school or call Terri Shaw at 502-352-2701. Applications are due June 1 to the Franklin County Conservation Office, 103 Lakeview Ct.

April deadlines
Alpha Delta Kappa

Chi chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is offering two scholarships to graduating senior girls who plan to major in education next year in college. The scholarship amount is $500 with the possibility of renewal.
Seniors who are interested in applying should see the counselors at Frankfort High, Franklin County or Western Hills for more information. The deadline for sending in applications is Thursday.

Don Sturgeon
Third District Magistrate Don Sturgeon is offering a $500 scholarship to any Franklin County High School student living in his district. For complete information, rules and an application for, contact Sturgeon at 502-695-7677. The deadline to apply is April 30.
The district includes: Arnold Ridge, Butler Addition, Capital Heights Addition, Colony, Disher, Eastover Terrace, Georgetown Road (from Silver Lake to the county line), Indian Hills, Landings, Maples, Oaks, Silver Lake 1 and 2, Steadmantown Lane, Switzer Road (to the fire department) and the first mile of Woodlake Road.

Scholarships are available for children of central Kentucky Thoroughbred horse farm workers and will be considered through April. Applicants must have graduated from high school or have a GED and been accepted by a college or technical school.
Awards are made to help with tuition based on financial need, merit, essay and a personal interview. Parents must have worked on a Thoroughbred farm for at least three years. To request an application, call 859-269-1719.

Community Action
Blue Grass Community Action Partnership will award a $750 scholarship to a person living in Franklin County. The applicant must meet the income guidelines for the Community Service Block Grant program and other competitive requirements.
Applications may be obtained from high school guidance counselors or by calling Sharon West at BGCA, 502-695-5615. Non-traditional students will also be considered. The deadline to apply is April 30.

May deadline
Dade Memorial

The Bluegrass Theatre Guild is now accepting applications for one new $300 scholarship, the Jeannette Dade Memorial Scholarship, funded by Jagjit and Eleanor Dade in memory of Jagjit‘s deceased wife, Jeannette.
The recipient of this scholarship must be planning to major in an arts-related area such as: set design, construction, art, lighting and/or sound, vocal and/or instrumental. The recipient must also be someone who would be financially challenged to further his/her education without scholarships.
Applications may be obtained in the counselor’s office at each of the three public high schools.
Applications and accompanying documentation, including a transcript and current picture, must be received (not just postmarked) by May 1. They should be mailed to BTG, PO Box 1481, Frankfort, KY 40602.
