Smith receives master’s
Ashley Dawn Smith graduated May 10 from Marshall University, Huntington, W.Va., with a master’s degree in athletic training.
Smith is a 2012 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training, and she is a 2008 graduate of Frankfort High School.
Smith is the daughter of Mark and Angi Smith of Frankfort.

Johnston receives master’s
Michelle Johnston graduated May 9 with a master’s degree in geological sciences from the University of Kentucky.
In addition, she received the Geological Society of America’s Antoinette Lierman Medlin Award, granted to one outstanding geology student in the nation.
She is also the recipient of the 2013 National Science Foundation EPSCoR Regional Research Enhancement Grant for her research in organic petrography, and she was recently inducted into the Sigma Gamma Epsilon Honor Society.
Johnston is the daughter of Fran and Michael Johnston and is a 2007 graduate of Western Hills High School.

Courtney graduates from UK
Brittany Courtney, daughter of David Courtney and Cathy Bennett, recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a minor in communications.

Gaines graduates from Georgetown
Whitney Gaines, daughter of Missy and Francis Gaines, graduated from Georgetown College May 10 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.
Gaines hopes to receive a master’s degree and become a social worker. She is a graduate of Western Hills High School.
