Two drama groups are planning workshops for children during the summer.
The Shelby County Community Theatre is conducting the Shelby Players Acting Camp from 1-4 p.m. June 23-27. A showcase of the week will be presented on the theatre’s stage at 7 p.m. June 28.
The camp is for children in grades 3-8 and is directed by Libby Sears Blair. The cost is $80 per child (T-shirt included) and $70 for each additional child in one family. The Frankfort High School Drama Club is sponsoring its annual children’s theatre summer workshop at the school, 328 Shelby St., July 7-12.
The camp, for boys and girls in grades 1-8, will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. July 7-11 and from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 12. The cost is $72 per participant. A $15 non-refundable deposit per camper is due at registration. The remaining balance may be paid on the opening day of camp. The cost is $62 for each additional sibling.
During the week participants will have the opportunity to explore acting under the direction of Andrew Tippett and his high school drama students. Then, on the final day of the workshop, parents and others from the community are invited to a 4:30 p.m. performance.
