Well, folks, there are no more weather cautions so it’s full speed ahead — except of course for wet ground and you don’t want to plant in that.
If you’re planting or thinking about planting following the phases of the moon and signs of the zodiac, here’s the overview for June. Remember if you have questions don’t hesitate to be in touch. My contact information is, as always, below.
The month begins with the moon in the light phase. It will continue to rule until the full (or dark) moon comes into force at 12:11 a.m. June 13. During this period plant only those things that produce above the ground — except don’t plant at all when one of the killing signs, Aries (the head) or Leo (the heart) rules.
The full or dark moon rules most all but 11 minutes of June 13 and until the light moon comes back into force at 4:08 a.m. June 27. During this period plant only those veggies that produce below the ground — except, again, when Aries or Leo is in force and those dates are below.
Light moon: plant above-ground producers, through June 12 then most of June 27 until 7:25 a.m. July 12.
Dark moon: plant below-ground producers, all but 11 minutes of June 13 through June 26 — except June 29-30 since Leo rules.
Check “General Tips” for dark- and light-moon activities.
Remember: Check to see if the moon is in the light or dark phase (information above) before proceeding with planting or other activities, indoors or out.
Fertile signs: the most fertile signs in the zodiac rule these days: Cancer (the breast), TODAY then June 27-28; Scorpio (the secrets), June 9-11; Pisces (the feet), June 18-19; and Taurus (the neck), June 22-24. Wow! There are 11 days this month ruled by the fertile signs —Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces and Taurus.
Killing signs: No planting, transplanting, or dealing with things you want to thrive should occur on these days. Reserve them for cultivating, cleaning out fencerows — anything but planting: Leo (the heart), June 2-4, 29-30 and Aires (the head), June 20-21. There are seven killing days — up from four last month — ruled by either Aries or Leo. And that’s another “wow” because that’s a lot of days when you can’t plant!
So-so days: These aren’t particularly fertile nor destructive, just so-so: Sagittarius (the thighs), June 12-13; Capricorn (the knees), June 14-15; and Aquarius (the legs), June 16-17. There are just six so-so days this month — and that’s the minimum.
Flowering days: These are “bloom days” and well suited for planting flowers. There are four “bloom days” this month: Virgo (the bowels), June 5-6; Libra (the reins), June 7-8.
Gemini days: Gemini rules the arms and is in force June 25-26. These are bean days but the moon is in the dark phase and we know where beans grow. But the good thing is that at least half the equation is good: bean sign but dark moon.
Again, here are a few general tips for activities other than planting:
If you have gravel to pour on a drive or roadway, do that in the light of the moon, June 1-12 and 28-30 so the gravel won’t sink. Same applies for stones on a garden path: place them when the moon is in the light phase so they don’t sink.
If you’re setting fence posts, do that in the light of the moon so the posts don’t sink.
If you’re putting on a new shingle roof, do that when the moon’s in the dark phase so that the shingles stick down and don’t curl up on the ends.
If you have changes to make like stopping smoking, starting a diet or exercise program, weaning small animals or children, scheduling elective surgery — anything that requires a change — here’s the formula: the moon in the dark phase and the signs are going out of the body, past anything that “functions” so that means thighs, knees, legs and feet — Sagittarius through Pisces.
Here are your days this month: most of June 13 through all of June 19. On these days the moon will be in the dark phase and the signs going out of the body — Sagittarius through Pisces. That’s seven days this month and that’s plenty of time to start making changes or time to schedule elective surgery.
