Heartwood looking
for young musicians

Kentucky Heartwood invites young people to register for the music competition at the 9th Annual Kentucky Heartwood Music Festival to be held July 26 at the Millville Community Center in Millville.
The competition is open for those ages 8-12 and 13-18. Winners receive a $100 prize and a trophy created by Jeff Alexander. For more information about the competition and the festival visit www.kyheartwood.org.
            
NatureCamp takes
a break this week

Frankfort Parks, Recreation & Historical Sites series of NatureCamps takes a break this week for the July Fourth holiday. Camp resumes July 8 and 10 and for the remainder of July on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Each week is at a different location with a themed activity.
Camp July 8 and 10 will feature “Plants we Eat and Flowers we Love” at Cove Spring Park.
The camp is for children ages 4-10 who are accompanied by a “keeper” 14 years or older. Camp is free but pre-registration at the Juniper Hill Park office is required by Friday before the camp week or at the previous week’s camp. Space is limited.

Concert series
continues July 18

The next offering in the Farmers Bank Summer Concert Series is July 18, featuring Sunset Blond and Vintage VooDoo. Additional dates are Aug. 1, 15 and 19. Visit downtownfrankfort.com for a complete listing of bands performing.

WHHS Dance Team
plans summer camp

The Western Hills High School Dance Team’s Summer Kids Dance Camp will be held from 8 a.m.-noon July 21-24 in the school gym.
It’s for dancers in grades K–8 and the cost is $45 with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt, group photo and daily snack. At 11 a.m. July 24, campers will perform routines for family and friends. Performances will be aired on Cable 10. For additional information or to obtain a registration form, email whhsdance@yahoo.com or call 502-352-0260.
