Editor’s Note: Unless otherwise noted, all events in the Senior Activity News are at the Center, 202 Medical Heights Drive. The phone number is 502-223-5794. Membership in the Center is available for those 60 or over or those with a spouse of that age.
The Senior Activity Center is now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 p.m. Seniors can now enjoy socializing, music, exercise and special events every weekday and in the evening hours, as well.

Thursday, 10:30 a.m., Staff Cook-Off: July is National Culinary Arts Month and that means a competition. Zumba Gold, 5:30-6:30.
Friday, 9:15 a.m.: Movie and popcorn.
July 21, 10:30 a.m.: Hot Dog Trivia: July is National Hot Dog Month, and Americans have been enjoying hot dogs for generations. But do you know how hot dogs were introduced in the U.S., or how many hot dogs Americans eat in a year? Come learn more about this American tradition.
July 22, 10:30 a.m.: Iron Chef Jim: You may not know that the Center has its own Iron Chef. Using a Panini press, Chef Jim will use the same basic ingredients that most of us have on hand and show us the technique for making the perfect Panini sandwich.
July 23, 10:00 a.m.: Military History Museum, Cost $3. June 6 marked the 70th anniversary of WWII’s Normandy Invasion. July 27 marks the 61st anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, and July 28 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I. It seems appropriate to take a trip to the newly-opened Kentucky Military History Museum. The $3 fee entitles us to also visit the Old Capitol in August and the Thomas Clark History Center in September, dates to be announced.
